Upland Journal - Welcome to Upland Journal; An online magazine devoted to the birds, the dogs, the guns, the friends and the experiences that culminate into the magic of upland bird hunting. If you're like me you long for the crisp days of fall, the aroma of decaying leaves, the rush of a grouse flush and the ballet of the woodcock rise-and yeah, the smell of a wet dog and the sting of briars across your nose. We are for the most part a solitary group, a minority if you wish, disciples of uncivilized places and wild birds. I hope you'll check back often to watch and help Upland Journal grow. |

Northwoods Canoe Co. - Rollin Thurlow, proprietor of the Northwoods Canoe Company, has spent much of his life either paddling, repairing or building wooden canoes. Introduced to canoeing via the family's aluminum canoe in the early 1960's, Rollin discovered the excitement of Maine's lakes and rivers. While guiding Boy Scout trips in the mid 60's down the Allagash River and other Northwoods waterways, he learned the advantages and spirit of wood and canvas canoes. These trips also started his education into the repair and maintenance of these traditional working craft. |
